Flying Geese and Quilts

Here is a friendly gaggle of geese flying in a circle----does that mean they are getting ready to land?  Debi shared this pattern with me from Piece By Number----a free pattern on the web.  I was going to turn it into a pillow, but thinking further on it, I think I will make a small wall hanging instead.  I think I will quilt it like Debi did---inside the geese and on the inner star.
This pattern is called "Woven Ribbons" and is from Mi'Liss Hawley's book "Fat Quarter Quilts."  For some reason I had to do a lot of "unsewing" in this quilt, but I finally got it to turn out right!
I called this one "Follow the Yellow Brick Road" because it happens to have a lot of yellow in it and is the YBR pattern.  The YBR is a Terry Atkinson pattern.
This is another YBR, but I called it "To the Zoo, Blue, J and IJ" because it has blue in it and is still fabric from Jacque and IJ.
The last YBR is called "To the Zoo, Green, J and IJ," because of all the green.  I used up most the the fabric that Jacque and IJ gave me, but still have some little pieces left that I might do something with.  I surely do thank those ladies for the fabric.  I think I made 7 quilts with their gift .  I used a little from my stash and got some great quilts out of the cute fabrics they gave me.  I had a lot of fun with it.

Still so very hot here--------98 degrees today --- triple digits for the rest of the week and into next week---I am so thankful for the A/C.

Project Linus again

Another Yellow Brick Road---my all time favorite pattern because it so easy to put together and only uses 6 fat quarters.  It's just the right size for baby through probably 4 years old.  It is a Terry Atkinson pattern.  This is  some more of that wonderful fabric from my friends Jacque and I.J.  Thank you again!
This pattern is called "Just Can't Cut It" and is a pattern from All Washed Up Quilts.
The last quilt is from a freebie on the web and is from Moda Bake Shop and is a "recipe" from Cindy.  Moda Bake Shop has all kinds of neat patterns on it and a new one most every day.  Lots of fun to check out!  I was so excited to have the "recipe maker", Cindy leave a comment on my blog!!!  This quilt was fun to put together because as you saw from my block picture from a few days ago, you do not make the pinwheels blocks, but they "appear" as you sew the blocks together.

Pinwheel Block? and Chickens

It may not look like it , but this will be a pinwheel quilt when all the blocks are put together.  Just a teaser for you of one block!!!  Fun to make.  The pattern is on Moda Bake Shop.  It's called "School Days Charm Quilt." Hopefully I can put it together and quilt it and show you how it looks soon.

These are 2 of a set of 3 chicken redwork towels that I have been working on.  Worked on them Saturday at a DFW Gang get together that we had at a quilt shop called Quilt Among Friends in Arlington.  We had a great time talking, eating, shopping, and sewing.  Not always in that order!  If you are in the DFW area,I hope sometime you can join us, it would be fun to meet some more quilters like yourself!  We don't have regular meetings, but maybe you can catch us sometime.

One Mini Quilt and 3 Medium Quilts

Called "Hopscotch," this quilt pattern is from Fabric Cafe.  Quite a fun one to do!  Went together quite easily.
My dear friend from Life Group at church, Jacque and her sister, I. J. gave me the fabric for this quilt.  That's why I named it "Jacque and I.J.'s Zoo,"  The pattern is called, "Just Can't Cut It."  Thanks Jacque and I.J!  There's still fabric left to do a couple more!
This quilt is called, "Spinning Scraps" and is from Quiltville.  It's another fun quilt of Bonnie Hunter's that is fun to put together.  Hard to believe that I have used up all my 2.5" scraps now and only have strings and selvedges  left!  I see another string quilt in the making.  It'll take a lot of selvedges to make a quilt, so I'll have to work on that as I go along!!!

This is a small quilt ---about 13 x 17 and was a kit from the Red Button Company, I think.  I hope I have the name right.  They included a red button with the kit and I sewed that on to the back.  I love the colors in this one!

So now you see what I have been busy with the last weeks.  But I still have some kits left that I put together a couple of months ago and a Moda Bake Shop pattern that I want to do.  And the basket of Fat Quarters put together into packs for Yellow Brick Roads is brimming over---so I always have something lined up to do--good to always have something to look forward to---right?!!

Stair Step Grandkids!

Here are my wonderful Stair-Step Grandkids all lined up on the 4th of July.  They had a great time playing with each other, so I heard!!!  Water balloons and all.  I'm so glad they can get together and enjoy each other.  They get to know each other a little bit more!!!

From the left hand they are Isabel, 9;  Evan, 8;  Ilena, 6; and Nathan, 5.  The joys of my life!  The girls are sisters and the boys are brothers.

Little Things

It's the little things that count and here is one little thing that I made from Pat Sloan's new book  "Redwork with a Twist."

This picture shows the front of the Notion Keeper.  I just had to put some music fabric in there, too!!
Here is what the notion keeper looks like on the inside.  Room for lots of things.  The scissors are tied by a ribbon.  The little redwork piece is a pincushion.
This is a little thread catcher that I made.  This particular pattern is NOT in Pat Sloan's book.  I got this pattern quite a number of years ago from a friend, Joanne in my Sit and Sew group.  She had a little class for us and several of us made them.  The one in Pat Sloan's book was too big for my liking and that's why I changed.  There's also a pin cushion included in the patterns, but I thought 7.5 x 7.5 was too big for a pin cushion for me, so I didn't make that.  That's more like a small pillow, IMHO.  Someday, I'll make one---I have done the redwork already for that, but it's a bit big, too.  Oh well.  I did enjoy making the thread catcher and the notion keeper.  I hope to try some of the other patterns in the book sometime soon.

Two for Project Linus

This quilt is done with all scraps and is from Quiltville with Bonnie Hunter.  She is so generous with her patterns and I especially like this one.  Thank you, Bonnie!  Didn't make much of a dent in my 2.5" scrap box though.  I guess that's what everyone says!  I called it "Scrappy Rainbow."
This quilt I called "Ring Around the Scraps."  This is a pattern done by Betty Hammock, who is a lady from around my part of the country.  I was able to take a class from her once, which was very informative.  She is a nice lady and writes good patterns.  She teaches through Quilt Mercantile which is my favorite quilt store.  They just celebrated their 10th anniversary!  Congratulations to them!
