Baskets Center and Project Linus Quilt

The baskets are done and sewn together! Now for the hard part to me--a triangle border---I'm sewing real slow on this one! Usually I'm a real chicken when it comes to this kind of border, but I figured "Why Not? I have lots of time and under no deadline!!!!" There's a picture of the start of the border above the quilt. The first and third borders will be like this one with a plain off white border in between. I hope I'm doing it right!!!! LOL!!

The second picture shows Lavender Afternoon, a Project Linus quilt that is ready to be added to the now growing pile of quilts ready to go to the drop off point! Hope to get a few more quilted before I take them over to McKinney!

Doing New Mystery Quilt

Aren't these squares cute? They are part of a new mystery quilt called Spring Nickel Quilt that can be found on the new forum Quilting Bee Forum which is a great one where a lot of the gals from another forum now gather (buzz around the hive? ((Groan!!)) There's lots of bee references there, in fact all the references and names of the divisions are about bees!!!! What fun!

Clue #2 has been posted so I need to get busy on that. I have been working on putting the baskets of 1930's together and for some reason that has been very, very slow. I've been working for at least a week and more on them and still don't have them done. For one thing, I had to clean through all my 30's fabric and that took a day's work there, but now they are nice and neat.

I have my next project all picked out and it is another Australian embroidery piece called Tender Treasures. It is one that Debi and I got together. She found it on a blog. I'm doing it in browns, beiges, tans and burgundy. Need to get a square traced so I can get started on it!

DFW Quilt Gang "Rides" Again!

DFW Quilt Gang had a sewing get-together with four of there sewing, eating and gabbing away. What fun we had! This time we met at the Ponder House which is strangely enough located in Ponder where Sally lives. It is the cutest little house made into a meeting house. The first picture shows the birthday cake that Brenda and Sally got for Debi--it was made of cupcakes and was absolutely delicious!

The next picture shows me with the Yellow Brick Road with Western Fat Quarters that I made that day. The third picture is Sally and the quilt she made and the last picture is the quilt Debi made with pinwheels. (Thanks, Sally for letting me share these pictures on my blog!) Somehow we didn't get a picture of Brenda--she was making Secret Sister gifts so I can't tell you what she was doing, but it sure was cute!!!

These get togethers that we have are treasured times because we don't get to meet as often as we would like, but we sure have a good time! Two of our members couldn't be there due to other commitments and they were missed---maybe next time.

Chickens, Chickens Everywhere!

Here are the chicken blocks all done for the Chicken Dinner quilt! These went together quite quickly--I was amazed! Fun to do, too! They look like they all should have names, because they have definite personalities--you know how that goes, sometimes things just take on personalities as you make them! I have everything else cut out to make the eggs blocks (these are smart chickies, too--they laid eggs in the same colors that they themselves are!!!LOL!!!) Each egg has a star on it, too. Also have to make the star center blocks. I was able to do this whole quilt from my stash--that was fun to do! Each chickie is wearing a napkin--hence the name of the quilt is "Chicken Dinner."

So back to the sewing machine to turn out some star blocks!!!

Two for One

When using this pattern, I realized that it was big enough to make 2 separate Project linus quilts instead of one quilt, so that's what I did! It used one Jelly Roll. The Jelly Roll was "Swanky" by Chez Moi for Moda and was given to me by my dear friend Debi. Lots of little pieces, but it actually went quite quickly! I named it Sparkling Stepping Stones---such a big name for a small quilt!!! LOL!!

Today I'm pulling fabric from my stash to make another chicken quilt. One of the girls from Sit N Sew on Tuesdays (Dequita) decided to go halvsies (is that a word?!) on the pattern so we each will have a chicken quilt. I'm making mine first. Don't know how I got onto chickens, but anyway here I am. The chickens are very cute and are wearing bandanas around their necks and have eggs that match their bodies. The name of the pattern is Chicken For Dinner and it is published by Black Cat Creations.

I have 2 more baskets to embroider and I will be able to put together the Aunt Bea's Parlor basket quilt. It uses 1930's fabrics. Now I need to find something else to embroider or do hand work on!!!
