Heart to Heart Mystery Quilt

My puppy likes this quilt called Heart to Heart.  It's a mystery quilt from the Facebook group Mystery Quilts Anonymous.  I did it in leftover Christmas fabric and will hold onto it until next holidays for Project Linus.

Mystery Quilt

This shows the gold blocks in place as you first sew the blocks together. I used 5.5" charms for this part.

Cut diagonally on the gold blocks. There are three cuts.

Putting the puzzle back together so that the gold half blocks "frame" the quilt top.

If we will admit it, there are some quilts that we just don't care for as we are doing them, but we persist and finish them, I will have to admit that this is one of those quilts. It sounded like a plan when I was thinking about it--------------lavender and gold squares, with the gold squares as the "frame." But as I worked on it, I disliked it more and more, but what the heck, I was committed to it now and thought I would finish it. Maybe there's a girl somewhere who really likes purple and will like it!!! One never knows, does one???!!!

The pattern is the "mystery quilt." It is put together as squares with the gold (in this case) being placed in certain places. It is then cut apart and rearranged and sewed back together and the gold blocks turn into the "frame." This process is what I tried to show in the pictures.

Mystery Quilt Finished!

Here is my mystery quilt from LQS --Quilt Mercantile-- all finished and ready to snuggle with this fall and winter! It was a good mystery because it came in a kit with the fabrics all pre -chosen for us---we had our pick of 3 different colorways and 2 different sizes. I like the way it turned out.


Also shown is the Tender Treasures quilt from a pattern from Australia--I finished it this morning. It's all scrappy and the fabrics all came from my stash with plenty left over---going to start on another scrappy quilt and I have the fabrics all pulled from my stash for that one, too. But the funny thing is--the stash doesn't seem to be getting any smaller---I've heard other quilters speak about this , too and wonder what the deal is!!!!


Then there's the "Let It Snow" quilt that I finished quilting and bound yesterday for Project Linus. So I feel like I got a lot done this week!!!!

Mystery Quilt from Local Quilt Store

Here is a picture of my Mystery Quilt from LQS, Quilt Mercantile that is finished except for the last border. I like the way this one turned out--you never know with mystery quilts!!! VBG!!!!! And I really like the fabrics!!!! Right now it is 45" x 60". Have to wait until next month to know the finished size, I guess. It didn't seem too bad to put together since we only did a little at a time. The instructions were very clear, also. That makes a big difference to me!

Had to miss Sit and Sew group today because I think I have a stomach flu bug---sure has not been a nice thing to have, but I am feeling better today, just didn't want to pass it around to others! I certainly did miss being there though, I'm sure they all had a fine time. It's always so much fun to see what everyone is working on, such diverse ideas and opinions---makes life so much more interesting, don't you think?

Mystery Quilt #18.....

This mystery quilt wasn't too much of a mystery because I had already tried it once and the way it turned out was less than satisfactory, so I tried again with different fabric, so maybe this should be called "Less of a Mystery"?! It's a quilt pattern from a great website called Quilting Passion --a place filled with wonderful patterns and information AND a Forum that is a warm, friendly place to hang out.

Step one was strips sewed together into a square. Step 2 was the rows of alternating patches and plain squares and Step 3 is the finished product with 3" border. Very simple! My pictures are in backwards order, but next time, I'll know how to do it the right way---if I remember!!! There's a learning curve here!

This quilt will go to Project Linus, an organization near and dear to my heart where comfort quilts are given to children in need, who are sick and/or in the hospital. Last year Maynard (my hubby of 39+ years) and I were able to make and donate 100 comfort quilts to this worthy organization. This year we've only been able to make about 30 so far, but more to come!
