Where the cows come home

This quilt is a Block of the Month from Primitive Gatherings.  It's called "Where the Cows Come Home."  The applique is wool. Wool applique is fun to do.  I just love the name of the quilt.

Thimbleberries BOM Center Done!

The center part of the Thimbleberries BOM is finished and now it is ready for the borders. Just had to show the picture of this part because in the early (5:00) morning tomorrow we are taking off for Austin to celebrate 3 birthdays--my oldest daughter's, my grandson's, who will be one year old and mine--so I won't be blogging for a couple of days and of course this just couldn't wait!!!! I'm really liking the colors now that I am putting them all together.

Two new blocks for Thimbleberries BOM!

Here are 2 new blocks for the Thimbleberries 2007 Warm and Cozy BOM. Now to put it together! From here on out it is just spacers and borders, I think, so lots of cutting and sewing still to go! It will be quite large when finished--96" x 108". Don't know if this will fit on our quilting frame or not--have to measure and find out--otherwise will be sending it out to be quilted!

If I had been doing this I think I would have done it differently--of course, I'm playing Monday morning quarterback here from the big game on Sunday afternoon-- (Very big grin), but I would have done more during each quarter, eg. cut out the borders and make more than one block on some of the smaller blocks. It didn't seem like there was enough to do for 3 months time. I've heard other people comment this same way. Maybe Thimbleberries will take some of our comments to heart and change the "rules" next time. It just seems like so much is left for the last quarter and I would like to see it spread out more over the whole year! This isn't just Thimbleberries way of doing BOMs--this has been the case with others, too.

Any other thoughts on the subject?

Sit N Sew Day

Today was Sit N Sew day at the LQS (Local Quilt Shop) in the tiny town of Celeste, Texas, where quite a group of us gather once a week to ---what else----sit and sew and talk and gab and laugh and sometimes eat!!!!!! The store is The Quilt Mercantile and is in my humble opinion one of the best quilt stores in Northern Texas. Run by a mother and daughter team, they carry a wide assortment of fabrics and notions and have all kinds of classes; plus they are just downright NICE! Once a month our Sit N Sew group is treated to lunch and a showing of new gadgets and fabric lines and a demonstration with neat door prizes for show and tell--what fun!

It's a wonderful group of gals of all ages who share one thing in common--a love of everything quilting--if your quilt store has anything like this you would be doing yourself a favor to join in on the fun or start a group of your own!

I worked on Block #1 of the Forever Flowers BOM--the applique part and was glad that a couple of the gals there knew how to do applique and could help me as I muddled along--one of the other great things about Sit N Sew--help as needed!!!

All in all a very fine day!
